Ms. Preeti Mehta is a Partner of Messrs Kanga & Co., a leading firm of Advocates and Solicitors in Bombay, established in 1890 and having a vast clientele. Ms. Mehta qualified as a Solicitor both from Bombay and England. Ms. Mehta has been practising for over 30 years and has vast experience in matters relating to joint ventures including foreign investment & collaborations, mergers & acquisitions & private equity investments in various sectors (including manufacturing, service, food & beverage and real estate sectors), corporate laws, banking, franchising, and hospitality.
Ms. Mehta has advised various clients in matters relating to joint ventures, corporate laws, mergers and takeovers, foreign collaboration, venture capital, private equity investments, corporate finance and banking, external commercial borrowings and capital raising, loans, securitisation, factoring and loan syndication.
As an offshoot of her main field of specialisation, Foreign Investment in India, she has also covered the area of franchising, which is fast growing. She has undergone an intensive course on Franchising at the Middlesex University, London and has several international franchise chains as clients.
Ms. Mehta has participated in several international seminars and presented papers as also authored articles on Foreign Investment, Franchising, Intellectual Property Law, Corporate Laws, and Corporate Governance. Ms. Mehta was on the Editorial Advisory Board of the International Journal of Franchising Law for several years and has made contributions to the Journal and other publications. Ms. Mehta has over the past several years been recognized as one the Leading Lawyers in India for Mergers and Acquisitions and Franchising by Who’s Who International. She has also been recognised as a Leading Lawyer for Corporate and M&A by Chambers & Partners and is included in India Business Law Journal’s “A List” of the Top 100 Lawyers in India.
Ms. Mehta is the President Elect of the Rotary Club of Bombay, was on the Executive Council of the Franchise Association of India and Chairing its Legal Committee and is serving as an independent director on Company Boards. Ms. Mehta was an independent director of Hexaware Technologies Limited. Presently Mrs.Mehta is an independent director on JCB India Ltd., Excel Crop Care Limited, AMJ and Holdings Limited (formerly Pudumjee Pulp & Paper Mills Ltd.) and Bagalkot Cement & Industries Limited.
